Steps Toward Freedom.

Recovery From Addiction

Substance abuse and addiction have their roots in a lack of internal self-worth.

In this context, the goal of treatment is to help clients develop a stronger sense of self. The technique is a many faceted approach, which includes education about the disease of addiction and how to create a life that is manageable.

It is my policy to begin with the least intensive treatment possible. This gives clients the opportunity to continue living their lives with the least amount of interruption. However, if a client fails to achieve and maintain sobriety, a more intensive placement becomes necessary. Often it is necessary to refer addicted clients to a rehabilitation facility.

Many clients who have been through treatment and have gained a period of sobriety are eager to explore their spirituality and to find ways to make amends with their families and friends. I work with clients and their families in after-care situations to help them continue their sobriety and to broaden their understanding of the disease of addiction.

Having worked in several treatment facilities as well as in private practice, I have extensive experience assessing and treating addicted clients, and with the long term issues associated with recovery.
