“Alternative” is really a misnomer.
Alternative therapies actually augment the practice of traditional, cognitive psychotherapy. I regularly draw upon these techniques when working with my clients. I became a third–level Reiki healer in 1999 and was initiated as a practitioner of the Quero Medicine Path in 2001. I am also trained in Past Life Regression Therapy and have been using PLRT with clients for many years.
About Reiki(pronounced “Ray-Key”)
Reiki is an ancient method of healing based on the application of “Universal Life Force Energy.” To become a Reiki practitioner, a person is “attuned” by a Reiki Master/Teacher – a lengthy learning process wherein the practitioner´s energy field becomes aligned in a manner so as to be a conduit for energy.
Reiki healing is very useful in physical, emotional and energetic healing. Healing clients with Reiki is not about techniques, but rather, is about being willing to be a channel for energy to flow through to the client in whatever form is most needed.
About The Quero Medicine Path
In 1999, I began working with Christina Donnell and her organization, Winds of Change. Through my work with Dr. Donnell I was introduced to the healing traditions of the Quero medicine people of Peru. An ancient people, the Quero are “keepers” of Inka spirituality, practicing the extraordinary and beautiful tradition of the Medicine Path which includes chakra balancing, soul retrieval and the removal of unwanted energies from the light bodies of clients.
I was initiated into the Quero Medicine Path while on an expedition to Peru in 2001. Since that time, I have regularly drawn upon these practices and their power when working with clients who have an interest in such techniques.
About Past Life Regression Therapy
I was trained at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY in the techniques of past–life regression therapy with the universally acknowledged expert in the field, Brian Weiss.
Past Life Regression Therapy is a method for tapping into a client´s subconcious using hypnosis, and is most beneficial when used to help clients achieve a degree of tranquility.
From my perspective, discovering information hidden in a client´s subconcious is useful, whether or not the information comes from a “past life.” PLRT is therefore a method of understanding and interpreting current issues in clients´ lives and enables me to help clients reframe those issues, to take responsibility for themselves, and to stop blaming external forces for their issues.
With a trained and skilled practitioner to guide the experience, PLRT has been shown to be an effective tool in learning to make sense of clients´ painful, or difficult situations.
