About Steve Moore
When I was in graduate school training to be a psychotherapist I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s’ Disease.
I now realize that my cancer diagnosis resulted in me being my very first client! While I had amazing doctors and benefited tremendously from medical science, I also knew that I had a lot of work to do on myself if I was going to triumph over my disease.
While I am not a person who identifies primarily as a cancer survivor, when I look back on the experience I see very clearly that my diagnosis was a gift that set the tone for my life as a therapist and a healer. I definitively know the power each of us has to heal – and of the collaboration between this inner healer and the universe, which provides us with the opportunities in our lives to evolve into the person we came here to be. In working with my clients over the years I have seen this simple principal beautifully manifest in a million different ways.
I know with each client I encounter that I am doing the work I came here to do. Not everyone has a life and death issue, but everyone has issues that can bring him or her closer to the authentic being they are, waiting patiently to be discovered.
After all these years in therapeutic practice, I know that each client has the ability to heal him or herself. My role as a therapist is to be the “midwife” who brings the healing into the present. Resistance to our life lessons is often the cause of our suffering. Once we can see the gift in our pain, we can begin the process of transformation.
I utilize a variety of modalities to affect change, both conventional and alternative. I am focused on the client’s needs and often have an intuitive sense as to the kinds of blocks my clients have created to camouflage their gifts.
Like my own true self – who needed a serious illness to emerge – clients’ pain and suffering can hold the key to amazing breakthroughs and an awakening to a whole new life.
It is always an honor to guide and be present for this process.
